Click Here for a list of applicants (In alphabetical order) or Click Here for a list of applicants (In serial number order), whose OCI Cards are ready in the Consulate for dispatch/collection. They are requested to submit their original passport of citizenship and the original Indian Passport (valid or expired)/PIO Card/proof of Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status which was submitted along with the application to the Consulate quoting the name and File Number immediately. Those who did not pay return mail charge at the time of submission should send a Money Order/Cashier's Cheque drawn in favour of the CGI, Houston for US $ 15/-. Passport with U Visa/OCI Card will be mailed within 10 working days. The applicants can also personally collect the OCI Card from the Consulate by depositing their original passports at the Counter from 0900-1230 hrs. The OCI Card can be picked up from 1600-1700 hrs. on the same day. One adult member of the family can collect the OCI Cards on behalf of all members of the family.
- The status of OCI applications can be checked online (https://passport.gov.in/oci/OnlineOCIenquiry.jsp) by entering the File Number obtained at the time of online registration of the application. The status report will show dates of "Registration Status", "Documents Printing Status", "Documents Printed On", "Documents Dispatched to concerned Mission/Office on" and "Documents Received at". When the online status indicates that documents have been received at CGI, Houston, the applicant should send the original passport of citizenship and the valid/expired Indian Passport/PIO Card held by the applicant.
- No separate communication regarding status of OCI applications will be sent to the applicant. Once the online status indicates the date on which OCI Card reached CGI, Houston, there is no need of further confirmation on phone/fax/e-mail and the applicant can send the passports by mail or come personally. While mailing passport do not forget to write the file number in a covering letter along with the passport(s).
- A person registered as OCI is eligible to apply for grant of Indian citizenship under section 5(1)(g) of the Citizenship Act, 1955 if he/she is registered as OCI for five years and has been residing in India for one year out of the five years before making the application.
- Do not make telephone/email/fax enquiry until 45 days from the date of receipt of application in the Consulate.
- Use the Postal tracking number to confirm receipt of application at the Consulate.
- Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant after scrutiny.
- Applicant should take care to fill up all columns of the application, affix photographs as per specifications given in the Procedure Section, sign the application and provide specimen signature in the prescribed column and submit two sets of the completed application and enclosure.
- Use Internet Explorer browser for filling up Part ‘A’ of the OCI
application online as use of other browsers may cause difficulty
- Copy of the already registered applications can be obtained using REPRINT
FORM option in individual registration
form by supplying
reference number (web registration number) as well as Date of Birth.
