Surendra Adhana, Deputy Consul General of India, Houston
Surendra Adhana is part of India’s most competitive and challenging services - Indian Foreign Service (IFS). He joined the Ministry of External Affairs in 2010 after clearing the Civil Services Examination, which is undoubtedly the most difficult examination in the world.
He worked in the Ministry for almost two years at the Eurasian Division dealing with Russia, before moving to the Indian Embassy in Moscow in August 2012.
During his tenure in Moscow, from August 2012- December 2016, he learned Russian language and handled various portfolios, including the India-Russia relations. He was deeply involved in India’s relations with Russia in the sphere of civil nuclear energy, defence, space, and foreign policy related matters.
In December 2016, he joined the Consulate General of India in Houston, where he is handling, among others, trade, consular, and administrative issues.
He has a bachelor of technology (B.Tech.) degree in Electronics and Communication. He speaks Hindi, English and Russian, and understands Punjabi.
He is married to Dr. Rajayshree Singh, who is a psychiatrist, and has a son.
