Renunciation of Indian Citizenship

It is mandatory for all persons of Indian origin, who had ever held an Indian passport, to renounce their Indian citizenship upon acquiring any foreign nationality. This is a prerequisite to obtain any service like, Visa, OCI or PIO card from the Consulate.

The Embassy of India, Washington DC has outsourced the handling of Renunciation of citizenship applications to M/S. Cox & Kings Global Services (CKGS) from 21st May 2014. CKGS in Houston is located at Binz Building, 1001 Texas Avenue, Suite 550, Houston TX 77002

CKGS accepts applications from eligible applicants for issue of Surrender of Indian Citizenship Certificate, Deemed Surrender of Indian Citizenship Certificate, and Renunciation Declaration of Indian Citizenship. All applications received by CKGS are acknowledged by the next working day. Normal processing time for issue of a Surrender Certificate is 3-6 days.
