Note that Consulate will not accept any application for visa at the counter. All applicants MUST apply through Travisa (except for one exception noted below).

Introduction of “Tourist Visa-on-Arrival”

The Consulate General of India will accept visa applications ONLY if you are applying for Diplomatic or Official visa, guidelines for which are given below.



Guidelines for individuals working in designated U.S. agencies or technology areas applying for visa to visit India

Effective from 1st February 2008, US nationals belonging to the specified categories mentioned below, applying for visa for India are required to submit their application at least two weeks in advance to enable timely process of their cases:

LIST OF DESIGNATED AGENCIES OR TECHNOLOGY AREAS IS GIVEN HERE UNDER

  1. Conventional Munition
  2. Nuclear Technology
  3. Missile/Missile Technology
  4. Aircraft and Missile Propulsion and Vehicular Systems
  5. Navigation and Guidance Control
  6. Chemical and Biotechnology Engineering
  7. Remote Imaging and Reconnaissance.
  8. Advanced Computer Material
  9. Advance Composite Material
  10. Information Security
  11. Laser and Directed Energy Systems
  12. Sensors
  13. Marine Technology (submarines etc)
  14. Robotics
  15. Advanced Ceramics
  16. High Performance Metals and Alloys and or with establishment engaged in Defence, Research, Nuclear, Space and Missile Technology.

Apart from submitting their passport and online visa application, they shall be required to submit the following additional information: -

  3. Field of study, occupation or specialization :
  4. Recent research work/publications, if any :
  5. Employment history (past five years) :
  6. Current Employer’s contact address and phone number:
  7. Purpose of visit to India :
  8. Whether the visit is sponsored by USG :
  9. Whether there is any official Government of India invitation:
  10. Contact details of organizations to be visited in India (list each):
  11. Applicant’s contact address and telephone number in India.
