India has traditionally been a major participant at the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston that is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. There was a sizeable and substantive participation from India at the OTC 2009 at the Reliant Center in Houston from 4-7 May, 2009. An official delegation led by Mr. D.N. Bose, Director, Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) and 28 other senior officials of ONGC. 9 private companies from India put up exhibition stalls at the OTC.
During their meetings and interactions, the Indian delegation and companies had fruitful discussions on Indiaís vast requirements and capabilities in the Energy Sector, and collaboration with existing and prospective partners from USA and other countries.
The Consulate coordinated the official delegationís programme and also rendered assistance to private companies whose stalls were visited by Consul General Sanjiv Arora and other Consulate officials. The Consulate also organized very useful interaction of the visiting delegation with CEOs and other senior executives and entrepreneurs in the oil and gas sectors, many of whom are persons of Indian origin. The event was organized in cooperation with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH), which was represented by its President, Mr. Brij Kathuria and Executive Director, Mr. Jagdip Ahluwalia.
