Mr. P Harish, Consul General of India in Houston was invited as a Keynote Speaker at the Greater Houston Partnership's (GHP) "Coffee with the Consuls - Doing Business with India" program on Wednesday, 17 December 2014 at the GHP Board Room in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Sanjay Ramabhadran, President, Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH) and Mr. Jagdip Ahluwalia, Founding Secretary and Executive Director, IACCGH, who had recently returned from a trade mission to India led by Harris County Judge Edward Emmett joined Consul General in the panel. Mr. Russ Capper, host of BusinessMakers Radio Show moderated the event. Mr. Frank Landreneau, PKF Texas introduced Keynote Speaker at the event.
Consul General gave a presentation on "Indian Economy: Opportunities for Business and Industry" where he spoke about the current state of Indian economy and the new policy initiatives of the government. He spoke on The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi's Make-in-India campaign and highlighted the opportunities for foreign investors across a wide gamut of manufacturing, services and skills development sectors in India. Consul General also focused on the India-U.S. bilateral relationship and provided an insight into the contributions of the Indian-American community to the US economy and for deepening economic engagement between the two countries. The audience had an opportunity to interact with the panel on various facets of the business and investment climate in India, new policy initiatives and sector-specific incentives.
The event was attended by a large gathering representing the business and industry in Greater Houston. City of Houston officials, members of various chambers of commerce, academia, industry associations and business leaders attended this event.
