The maintenance of cleanliness and ensuring a clean and productive work environment for staff and visitors at the Chancery premises has been a priority of the Consulate for over two years and these efforts have received a fresh impetus with the launch of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan by Hon'ble Prime Minister. Since the launch of the Abhiyan, our goal is to maintain total cleanliness within the Chancery premises at all times by making it a shared responsibility of the entire staff. As part of this endeavour, we have also tried to reorganize our work-spaces to ensure effective utilization of existing space.
Two years ago, this Consulate had stacks of over 4000 cartons of consular and administrative files in its premises. An extensive weeding out of old files was carried out and over 1500 cartons were duly destroyed. Systematic file storage space for the remaining cartons/files was created. It is pertinent to mention here that a project to digitize consular records is currently underway at the Consulate and once completed in due course, it will free up a lot of the currently occupied storage space. The Consular staff has actively participated in all these efforts to streamline file storage and maintenance, clear the workspace of unused/redundant documents and live up to the Swachch Bharat vision. We will try our best to keep up this momentum and are confident that these changes will lead to improvements in productivity and efficiency and better service to those who seek our services.
