The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) constantly endeavors to strengthen the bond between India and its Diaspora. It addresses their concerns and creates an enabling environment, in which Overseas Indians engage with and benefit from the opportunities in India.
Overseas Indian Facilitation Center (OIFC) was established by Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India, as Public Private Partnership, with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). OIFC has the following mandate:
To Promote Overseas Indian investments in India and facilitate business partnerships
Establish and maintain a Diaspora Knowledge Network
Function as a clearing house for all investment related information
Assist Indian States to project investment opportunities
Provide advisory services to PIO, OCIs and NRIs.
OIFC addressed queries through "Ask the Expert" where registered users get information concerning investment, regulatory approvals, market research, joint venture partner identification, project financing etc. It organizes Diaspora Engagement Meets, Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) to provide opportunities of face-to-face connect between Global Indians, senior representatives of the Government and Indian industry experts. It also organizes the Market Place Forum at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention where OIFC Partners showcase their services and interact with the delegates and discuss State level initiatives with the NRIs. Through 22 overseas meets and 7 Market Place Forums, 8162 Overseas Indians have been provided face-to-face connect with India. OIFC has answered, both online and offline, more than 12300 queries.
